Director General PDMA- PaRRSA Visit to LASOONA

LASOONA: Society for Human & Natural Resource Development is implementing USAID Entrepreneurs Project in District. Swat, Dir & Malakand in collaboration with MEDA, for the perseverance to increase the income of 10,000 home based women embellishers by the end of the project.

Being a Key Facilitating Partner (KFP) of MEDA; LASOONA has to coordinate and comply with the key stakeholders in the project. From the government side PaRRSA has a mentoring and supervisory role in this regard; to monitor and facilitate the operations of the national and international organizations working in the province wherein the progress and achievements are being shared regularly on routine basis with PaRRSA for transparency measure.

In this connection, the DG PaRRSA has made a visit to Swat for the purpose to observe the activities of USAID Entrepreneurs project implementing by four different KFPs including LASOONA. The program was jointly arranged by all the four KFPs and MEDA at Kanju village. A stall of the Hand Embellished Products was exhibited in the stands by the community activists called Female Sales Agents (FSAs). A brief description of the project target and achievements was presented by Project Manager LASOONA to the DG PaRRSA and other stakeholders.

One of the LASOONA FSAs has presented her comparative status/success story and profits earned through the LASOONA’s interventions. LASOONA’s stall was also visited by the DG PaRRSA with keen interest to know the promotion of Hand Embellished value chain in the target area. He interacted with the FSAs and interrogate them regarding LASOONA role and facilitation provided to them within the targeted value chain.  He appreciated the work of LASOONA.

Annotations from DG PaRRSA, he cordially thanked all the four KFPs for the best services they are providing to the vulnerable community, he also thanked the donor agency for providing their full support for making the project successful.  

LASOONA affirms to be committed to the well being of masses through promoting ecologically sound developement in impoverished pockets of Pakistan in general and Khyber Pukhtunkhwa and FATA in particular.
