Project closing and CBDRM handing over ceremony

LASOONA: Society for Human and Natural Resource Development has organized a half day ceremony of Project closing and CBDRM committees handing over to Government Authorities of District Swat, Shangla and Kohistan.

In the ceremony Mr. Noor Malik highlighted the achievements of the project “Sustainable Agriculture Rehabilitation to Ensure Food Security and Disaster Prevention in North Pakistan” the project was financially supported by Welthungerhilfe (WHH)- a German NGO and the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ)- Government of Germany. The project benefited about 30,000 flood affected families in three main sectors i.e. Food Security & Livelihoods, Infrastructure Development and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR).

A large number of people mainly the CBDRM committees’ members, Government Authorities/Line Agencies, Journalists, NGOs/INGOs of District Swat, Shangla and Kohistan participated in the event. Mr Abadat Khan Additional Deputy Commissioner Shangla was the Chief Guest on this occasion. He appreciated the quality of work of LASOONA especially focusing on far-flung areas of the three targeted Districts.  The event also witnessed to the handing over/linking of the established CBDRM committees with the concerned district government department for reinforcement of disaster risk reduction in the area. At the end of the ceremony, Mr. Azam Khan-Executive Director LASOONA handed over the CBDRM committees’ lists and kits items details to the Chief Guest, further the lists and kits details were handed over to the CBDRM presidents’.

LASOONA affirms to be committed to the well being of masses through promoting ecologically sound developement in impoverished pockets of Pakistan in general and Khyber Pukhtunkhwa in particular.
