Project Launching Ceremony of the project “Sustainable Solutions to Food and Nutrition Insecurity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan”.

LASOONA: Society for Human and Natural Resource Development organized a one day inception workshop for the  Project “Sustainable Solutions to Food and Nutrition Insecurity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan funded by Welthungerhilfe.  The project is planned to be implemented in the selected union councils of the three districts in districts Swat, Shangla and Kohistan for a duration of the three years.

To ensure support and cooperation for successful implementation of the project, stakeholders /representative from the relevant line departments participated actively in the inception event.

Official from Districts Administration Swat, Shangla and Kohistan, PDMA (Provincial Disaster Management Authority), Deputy Director Health Nutrition Food Security and Agriculture cluster  Provincial Level, Agriculture Research Institute Swat District Health Departments, Districts Social Welfare Departments-Shangla, Kohistan and Swat, Agriculture Extension Departments-Shangla, Kohistan, Swat, DDMOs Shangla, Kohistan and Swat, District Forest Departments, District Soil Conservation Department, District Water Management Department, PHE department, Implementing organizations working in the target districts participated in the workshop.  

The workshop participants were briefed about the project objectives, activities, outputs and expected outcomes by Project Manager of LASOONA followed by detailed discussion sessions.  Workshop participants as representatives of the line departments promised to extend their full cooperation and technical support during the project implementation. On behalf of Welthungerhilfe (WHH), the Project Coordinator briefed the workshop participants about WHH especially its programs objectives and contribution for the uplift of the communities in Pakistan since earth-quake disaster of 2005. He specifically mentioned the project as a long term, development oriented project to contribute significantly in mitigating the food insecurity and under-nutrition problems of the vulnerable communities in the target areas. The MPA (also focal person for NGOs) Mr. Amjad ensured his full support not only at the district level but promised to extend his facilitation at provincial level  in enabling the departments and LASOONA to contribute to serve the communities.  At the end of the ceremony Mr. Jan Muhammad- member board of director, LASOONA thanked all the participants for their vehement participation and committed support for the project.

LASOONA affirms to be committed to the well being of masses through promoting ecologically sound developement in impoverished pockets of Pakistan in general and Khyber Pukhtunkhwa in particular.
