Project Description

On June 27, 2025, severe flash floods devastated District Swat, prompting LASOONA, under the BRAVE project with WHH, to conduct a rapid needs assessment in the five Village Councils across Tehsils Bahrain and Matta. The assessment revealed extensive humanitarian and infrastructural damage. Lives were lost, homes destroyed, and key public services particularly water supply, irrigation, roads, and bridges were disrupted. Agriculture and tourism, pivotal to Swat’s economy, sustained widespread losses,

Swat’s vulnerability arises from multiple interlinked factors: frequent climate-induced hazards, environmental degradation, institutional fragility, poor service delivery, and deep-rooted gender exclusion. Major priority areas identified through primary and secondary data analysis include improving disaster preparedness, establishing early warning systems, enhancing community-led governance, and promoting climate-resilient agriculture

Early Response (Provision of food, Livestock Fodder, Hygiene kits with hygiene promotion sessions, while for Early Recovery (Agriculture inputs with tools, restoration of small businesses/ shops; restoration of HH latrines, irrigation channels, culverts, footpaths; flood mitigation structures and need capacity building in Emergency Response.
