Program Goal: To support inclusive, responsive, and accountable governance that addresses the needs and priorities of marginalized and vulnerable populations.

The inclusion of the Governance sector as a  thematic pillar in LASOONA’s strategic plan reflects a strategic shift towards enhancing the overall effectiveness and impact of its programs. The focus areas under this pillar – Right Awareness, Capacity Sharing, and Public Sector Engagement – aim to strengthen the governance aspects of LASOONA’s specific program areas.

  • Right Awareness: This area focuses on increasing community awareness about their rights. It involves educational campaigns and initiatives to inform citizens about their legal rights, entitlements, and the means to access them. By empowering communities with knowledge of their rights, LASOONA aims to foster a more informed and active citizenry that can advocate for their needs and hold duty-bearers accountable.
  • Capacity Sharing: This involves the sharing of knowledge, skills, and best practices to enhance the capacities of both LASOONA and its partner organizations and public offices. By building the internal capacities of community-based organizations and local institutions, LASOONA aims to improve the delivery and effectiveness of its programs, ensuring they are more responsive to the needs of the communities they serve.
  • Public Sector Engagement: LASOONA plans to engage more actively with public sector entities to influence policy and decision-making processes. This includes advocacy, policy dialogue, and forming partnerships with government bodies to ensure that public policies and services are inclusive, equitable, and responsive to the needs of disadvantaged and at-risk communities.

The goal is pivotal in building a foundation for active and informed citizenship.
